Serving the Peninsula since
MJ's Restaurant opened its doors in 2009, when Marie-Josée and her husband Daniel turned a quiet corner of Beresford into the kind of place they always wished existed on the Acadian Peninsula — somewhere with honest food, fair prices, and a welcome that feels like family.
Tucked between the salt air of Chaleur Bay and the forests of northern New Brunswick, we cook the way our grandmothers did: slowly, with our hands, and with ingredients we're proud to name. Local potatoes from the Caraquet flats, seafood landed in Shippagan and Bas-Caraquet, wild blueberries from the fields around Nigadoo, and maple from the sugar shack down the road.
Whether you're a local who's been coming for years, a family on a road trip through the Maritimes, or a guest from the hotels along Route 11 looking for a real meal — pull up a chair. You're home.
Produce, seafood and maple from Acadian Peninsula producers we know by name.
A kids' menu, high chairs, and a relaxed room where little ones are welcome.
Sauces, soups, breads and desserts prepared in our kitchen every morning.
Friendly, unhurried service in English and French — bienvenue à tous.
Three recipes guests drive across northern New Brunswick for.

It started with one espresso machine, eight tables, and Marie-Josée's poutine recipe. Daniel waited tables; her mother Madeleine made the pies. On the first Saturday, they served 11 people. On the second, there was a line out the door.
Fifteen years later, MJ's has become a meeting point for the whole region — the place where Beresford celebrates anniversaries, where Bathurst comes for a proper weekend breakfast, and where travellers on the way to the Acadian Peninsula finally stop and stay a while.
Some things haven't changed: the recipes, the maple butter, the hand-cut fries, the welcome. Come see why locals keep coming back.
